Hello, I’m Verity Coonan, and my mother says I was born to create.
Growing up in Darwin, I was given free reign and enormous encouragement to experiment with colour in every aspect of my life—from my hair to my bedroom walls.
That passion stayed with me and propelled me to enrol in an Interior Design & Technology course on the Gold Coast in Queensland where I studied for 2 years, before coming home to Darwin.
I spent the next three years as City Ceramics’ in-house interior designer, working on an average of three houses a week and advising on everything from tiles and walls to the colour of kitchen cupboards.
But I was desperate to be more hands-on and apply the interior design skills I’d learnt, and so the idea of Vdesigned was born in 2009.
My strength, drive and enormous success comes from my loving partner Josh, he believed in me and my designs so much that I believe in myself, and the amazing direction my business is heading.
Why choose Vdesigned?
I’ve now been an interior designer in Darwin for over four years, working on both residential and commercial design projects. These have included luxury penthouses at the Waterfront, stately homes in the rural area, townhouses in the northern suburbs, multi-level inner-city developments and brand new units in Darwin and Palmerston’s emerging suburbs.
My personal style is eclectic and cutting edge, but my design range encompasses every style - classic, vintage, tropical, couture and contemporary.
I get enormous satisfaction from working with my client to create a unique space that’s perfectly suited to their personality, their lifestyle and, importantly, their budget.
I’m young and fresh, bursting with ideas and I’m obsessed with the latest design trends.
A passion for design
I read every design magazine and blog I can find and regularly travel to design expos in Sydney and Melbourne.
Being a member of the Design Institute of Australia also ensures I stay up to date, as well as gives me access to a national network of industry resources and contacts to call on for my Darwin design projects.
